What we collect
- You give us: name, email address, telephone number, company name, and anything you write into a form, message or survey response.
- Collected automatically: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the source that referred you.
- Billing: we never receive or store your full card number. Card details are entered directly with our payment provider, which returns an encrypted token allowing us to charge your subscription. We see only card type, last four digits and expiry date.
Why we process it, and on what lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
Answering enquiries and delivering the services you asked for | Performance of a contract |
| Billing you and collecting recurring subscription payments | Performance of a contract |
| Meeting tax, company law and record-keeping duties | Legal obligation |
| Improving our services and securing our systems | Legitimate interest |
| Sending marketing communications | Your consent, withdrawable at any time |
Who we share it with
Only with operators processing on our behalf under written agreement: our payment provider, hosting and email providers, our customer relationship and automation platform, and our survey and analytics tools. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We disclose it to authorities only where the law requires it.
When you are the client
Where we collect survey responses from your customers or staff, or process contacts inside a system we run for you, you are the responsible party and we act as your operator under sections 20 and 21 of POPIA. We process that information only on your documented instruction, secure it appropriately, and notify you without delay of any compromise. We sign a written operator agreement with every client before that processing begins.
Information sent outside South Africa
Some of our providers host data outside South Africa, including in the European Union and the United States. We transfer personal information across borders only where section 72 of POPIA permits: where the recipient is bound by an agreement or law affording substantially similar protection, where the transfer is necessary to perform our contract with you, or where you have consented.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become clients — 24 months.
- Client records — the duration of the engagement plus five years, to meet tax and company law requirements.
- Marketing consent records — until withdrawn, plus three years.
Direct marketing
We send electronic marketing only where you have consented or are an existing customer for similar services. Every message carries a working unsubscribe. Opt-outs are actioned immediately and permanently, as section 69 of POPIA and section 45 of the ECT Act require.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what we hold about you, provide a copy, correct or delete it, stop processing it, or withdraw your consent. You may object to processing based on legitimate interest. Email privacy@blinknow.co.za. We respond within 30 days and do not charge for a first request.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa), JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, 2001 — POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
Security and breach notification
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and vetted providers. No system is perfectly secure. Where a breach compromises your personal information we notify you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible, as section 22 of POPIA requires.
Cookies
We use cookies that keep the site working and show us which pages are used. You can block cookies in your browser; parts of the site may then not work as intended.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above always reflects the current version, and material changes are notified to active clients by email.
